Compression Springs

Compression Spring

Compression Springs are an open coiled, helical spring that offer resistance to a force applied axially. The four types of compression springs that A1 Spring & Stamping, LLC can produce are Cylindrical, Conical, Barrel Shaped (convex), and Hourglass (concave) springs. The four types of end configurations able to be produced are Closed, Closed and Ground, Open and Open and Ground. Closed refers to the end coil on one or both ends touching the adjacent coil thus allowing the spring to stand up on the end. Grinding the spring ends will also allow for the spring to stand straighter and a lower solid height (the height when fully compressed). Compression Springs should be stress-relieved after coiling to reduce the stress produced by the coiling operation. Other operations such as presetting or shot peening may increase the life expectancy if needed. If you would like to request a quote for compression springs, please visit our RFQ page.
