Barrel Compression Springs

Barrel (convex) Springs are a type of compression spring where the coils begin to reduce in diameter as they get closer to the ends of the spring. As in regular compression springs, loads can be changed by varying the material size, active coils and free length. The shape of the barrel can also affect the maximum loads. Barrel Springs tend to buckle less under load and may be designed to allow some coils to compress inside one another to give a lower solid height.
